My Ministry

Mel Rivera has a profound passion for the mission field. In the year 2004 he got on a plane from Bradley International Airport and landed in Quito, Ecuador. After spending a night in Quito, he got up the next morning paid $3.50 and hopped on a bus on a five hour trip via Baños, Ecuador: A town up in the Andes Mountain. While he didn’t know anyone in Ecuador he knew God had a purpose for his visit and a destination.

That destination was the Sweet Refuge Orphanage where he thought of just volunteering some time. But God had other plans for him. A year later he was bringing an apostolic group from Springfield, MA to preach to the neighborhood of Santa Ana where the orphanage is located, and had a vacation bible school for the children of the orphanage and surrounding area.

Since then, Mel has gone to Ecuador approximately 8 times. His passion for the mission field continues to increase as well as his desire to devote himself to full time ministry. He wants to continue the legacy of preaching the gospel and support the orphanages of Ecuador.
